Economic Development: Understanding World Poverty
To participate in International Education Week the Bessie B. Moore Center for Economic Education conducted a dinner seminar,
Economic Development: Understanding World Poverty. This program was hosted by the Arkansas World Trade Center on Nov. 15 from 4:30 to 8:00. Heifer International helped the teachers of grades 3 to 9 understand the lives of children who live in poverty. Heifer introduced ways children can learn about and help impoverished people. Teachers received curricula and a children's book,
Children Just Like Me, to use to teach economic development. Forty-eight teachers attended with another 10 on a waiting list. Due to the demand the program will be repeated in the spring. Go to bmcee.uark.edu for a copy of the lesson or to get on the waiting list. This program was funded by an International Education Showcase grant for the National Council on Economic Education.
