MarketPlace for Young Entreprenuers
| The 5th Annual MarketPlace for Young Entrepreneurs opened as fourth through sixth grade students selected their business locations and paid rent accordingly. They received packets with accounting forms, lease agreements and other needed materials for the day. Once the displays were assembled, PowerPoint advertisements were shown on the Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development `big screen'. This was followed by the hub-bub of the market as consumers eagerly dickered with business owners. Behind the scenes the faculty and staff from the Walton College were judging the businesses and their advertisements for awards given at the end of the day. Seventy-five highly motivated and energized students participated in the MarketPlace event. In addition to the teachers and parents from 12 classes from six schools many Walton College staff and other campus visitors stopped in for shopping. Walton College currency was the legal tender of the day that resulted in loads of cool `buys' and a very vibrant economic system. | ![]() |
