|
On November 12th the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Little Rock Branch, the Bessie B. Moore Center for Economic Education, Economics Arkansas, and the Arkansas Securities Department partnered to host the first annual Economic Summit at the Walton College Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development in Fayetteville. This was a conference planned by teachers for teachers. Many of the presentations were made by teachers. Topics ranged from globalization to immigration to entrepreneurship. The conference was conceptualized and planned by teachers of economics, foreign language, workforce education, social studies, economics, mathematics and family and consumer science. There was something offered for everyone. The frameworks based activities were educational and valuable tools for the classroom. The keynote speaker, Mike Pakko, a research economist from the Federal Reserve, shared economic statistics about the state of the Arkansas economy. The 52 teachers who attended gave very high ratings for the day and recommend the event to their colleagues. Watch the calendar for future summits and save your professional days! |
